Hazardous Waste Basics:
- Boston Lists items that they are able to take from residents, such as laundry items, kitchen and household items, and car items.
- There is also a list of items that they are not able to take. Gives information on upcoming hazardous waste drop-off events.
- Gives locations of specific kiosks where you can dispose of prescription drugs.
- There are two upcoming hazardous waste drop-offs on September 25th and October 9th.
- The city will accept items such as paints, car-related materials, kitchen and laundry materials, and hazardous household items.
- Most information is only useful to Boston residents themselves, as the city won’t collect from large businesses or non-Boston residents.
- However, there are multiple companies and communities around Boston with similar resources.
- Boston has also imposed restrictions on businesses, making it much more difficult for them to improperly dispose of hazardous waste.
Transporters may move the waste to a facility that can recycle, treat, store or dispose of the waste comply with.
Recycling hazardous waste has a variety of benefits including reducing the consumption of raw materials and the volume of waste materials that must be treated and disposed of.
The EPA has developed multiple ways to regulate hazardous waste, such as flexible options for disposing of hazardous waste and creating rules that are easier to understand.
